A little ditty.
A song I wrote in 2011
Hello frens! From time to time, I’m gonna be dropping various musings, poems, and song lyrics. This is one of those times.
In my unmasking article I mentioned that I was in a band once upon a time. The following is a song I wrote in 2011 which seems incredibly relevant now.
THE BEAST AND THE BURDEN
Big brother, watches us
Surveying our, every step
Wondering, when will we be
Set free of this
Allowed to breathe
Walking on, this fractured fate
Waiting for the ice to break
Why must they, manipulate
Heart of stone, filled with hate
Failing to find, the right state of mind
Just walking around and forfeiting your life
So why must it be, that we are all sheep
And why must we lie down for this evil machine
I have seen through your deception
These eyes have seen enough deception
Twisting and turning, lying and burning
Just make it stop
I have to, ask you what
Will it take, to convince
You, that this is all a show
Blue ribbons, an afterglow
Mannequin for the cause
Have you ever, stopped and paused
Dont you wonder, why we're here
Just to be, bathed in fear
Failing to find, the right state of mind
Just walking around and forfeiting your life
So why must it be, that we are all sheep

The band I was in was a concept band, and we had a graphic novel that accompanied our music. The entire theme of our music and the novel was a totalitarian government taking control and creating a One World Government (we even had a micro chip in the story that was injected into people against their will).
This song is about the government controlling us and manipulating us to believe whatever it is that they want us to believe and it was the opening song to the entire series, kind of “setting the stage” for the rest of our music and the novel.
