The exodus from sports was in response to the "kneelers " and their insult to the country that provided them with the opportunity to excel. At the same time, I wondered what good kids who made their way through high school and college on sports scholarships were supposed to do. Where do you go if you don't want to be a China puppet and mouthpiece. Americans should own American sports. Politics doesn't belong in sports. Sports is a necessary escape from politics.
